The next Jeff Probst?
Mike Irvin will be hosting a reality show where contestants compete for a roster spot on the Cowboys. The show will feature 6 wide receivers and 6 defensive backs who will be selected from a field of players who “played college ball and had to give up for some reason.” And yes, the Cowboys have confirmed that a training camp roster spot will be offered to the show’s winner. Now, it was only a matter of time before an NFL team jumped into the reality show cesspool. And is it really any surprise that it happens to be Jerry Jones and America’s Team? It’s the running joke in league circles and the media that the Cowboys would sign anyone, (**cough** Pac-Man **cough**) so this is simply a natural extension of the organization’s front office. I can see this really developing into something big. Especially if Mike Irvin gets loose and lives down to his potential.
But wasn’t this already done in Phlly about 30 years ago? I’m pretty sure there is a Mark Wahlberg movie about this. Although the dude in that movie was made out to be a hero, in this day and age of instant celebrity, I can see the winner of this program being RIPPED to shreds in the media and in cyberspace. It’s going to be a nice little trainwreck!
