A monster truck announcer was killed in Wisconsin, after being struck by a truck. This comes just a week after a 6 year old boy was killed at a rally in Washington. George Eisenhart Jr., the announcer, apparently met a brutal demise after being crushed by both the front and rear tires and subsequently had his head explode in a mess of blood. The irony of the whole thing is that Eisenhart told reporters before the show that it would be safe, in the wake of the young boy’s death. It appears that the “sport” of monster truck racing is officially on the clock for a major safety investigation. Although I don’t think there is a governing body for the organization, it would be a mistake to chalk this up as “just a risk of attending” like most other motor sports do after accidents like this happen. There has to be a way to prevent this nonsense. Step one would be to take the announcer off the course! But in the meantime, if you plan on attending a monster truck rally anytime soon, perhaps you should consider sitting in the upper deck of the facility.
